Breath of Glory Ministries International (BOGMI) is a faith-based ministry founded in 2015 and based in Temple Hills, Maryland. Rooted in the belief that prayer changes things, BOGMI exists to serve all individuals by providing a safe and transformational space for spiritual growth, healing, and worship.
Through ministry services, outreach programs, community prayer, and the Worship Through Pain Academy, BOGMI equips people of all walks of life to move from brokenness to breakthrough under the leadership of the Holy Spirit. Guided by the scripture "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven" (Matthew 5:16), BOGMI is committed to being a light in the lives of those it serves.
Breath of Glory Ministries International traces its roots back to August 1998, when Shirley responded to what she believed was God's call to begin a ministry.
Earlier that summer, she repeatedly felt led to host a prayer breakfast. Unsure of herself, she initially dismissed the prompting, believing she lacked the experience to start a ministry. Yet the impression remained.
As she continued praying, she felt God instruct her to contact a woman from her church whom she barely knew and ask if she would serve as an intercessor for the ministry. Although the request felt unusual, Shirley obeyed. When she shared what she believed God had spoken, the woman broke into tears, saying she felt honored that God had chosen her to be part of the work.
Not long afterward, another woman unexpectedly called Shirley with a question that confirmed everything she had been wrestling with: "Did God tell you to start your ministry this August?" That confirmation removed all doubt.
In August 1998, Shirley held the ministry's very first prayer breakfast, marking the official beginning of what was then called Heavenly Music Outreach.
From there, the ministry steadily grew. Weekly Sunday services were established, and the team regularly partnered with other churches by providing sound equipment and ministry support. Their outreach expanded into serving homeless communities, organizing annual back-to-school events, distributing toys during Christmas, and traveling to North Carolina to support local outreach efforts.

During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the ministry entered another chapter by launching online Zoom prayer gatherings, allowing people from different locations to worship and pray together. While many people first encountered the ministry through these online meetings, they represented an expansion of an already well-established ministry—not its beginning.
Today, Breath of Glory Ministries International continues its mission through worship, prayer, discipleship, community outreach, leadership development, and the Worship Through Pain Academy, carrying forward the same calling that first began with a simple act of obedience in the summer of 1998.
Beyond structured outreach, Apostle Davis serves as a modern-day Christian consultant, advising and praying for hurting, discouraged, and challenged individuals who, due to their circumstances, have somewhat given up on life. Her divine mandate is to serve others, and she strives to honor God by serving people living in desperate communities.
Personal Life
Apostle Shirley Davis was born in Roxobel, North Carolina, and raised in Aulander, North Carolina. She is married to Alfranzo Davis. She is the proud mother of two children, Shari Alford and Gary Alford. With her husband, she shares another daughter and two more sons, and together they are grandparents to ten grandchildren.
Training & Education
For over fourteen years, Apostle Davis served at the Forestville Health Care Center in Forestville, Maryland, where she worked in the music department, prayed for residents, and shared the Word of God as a means of keeping all participants motivated.
For twenty years, she labored under the leadership of Archbishop Anthony and Apostle Crishaon Jones, who served as her spiritual foundation and guides in ministry. Her preparation further included a five-month Apostolic Dominion Training course known as the "Royal Citizens Boot Camp," conducted under the direction of Dr. Marjorie Brown.
Apostle Davis' acceptance of and dedication to God's divine call upon her life has prompted and encouraged others in their walk with the Lord. She was set in place as a pastor on November 22, 2012, and five years later, on December 29, 2018, she accepted her elevation to the office of apostle.
On May 4, 2020, during the height of the pandemic, she birthed the Breath of Glory Monday Night Manna — a Zoom-based prayer ministry held every first, second, and fourth Monday of the month. In 2022, the ministry ended the year (October through December) with prayer services that included both men and women.
She also once served as worship leader at Restored Life Ministries under the leadership of Pastors Michael and Cassandra Morgan
Ordination & Ministry
Apostle Davis is a published author. Her book, Worship Through Pain, was released on December 30, 2022. This work offers the Body of Christ a well-rounded foundation of ministry and service, a testament to the fruit she continues to bear.
In 2007, Apostle Shirley taught a Bible study on worship through pain. During that time, she felt God impress upon her that this message was meant to become more than a teaching. It would eventually become both a class and a book. Although she sensed that calling, she struggled to believe she could write a book and put the idea aside.
Even before that, Apostle Shirley had already begun teaching others about worship. In 2002, a couple preparing to plant a church sought her out after feeling led by God to learn from her. She met with them weekly for several months, teaching them about worship. Later, she taught additional students, but eventually stepped away from teaching, believing the timing wasn't yet right.
Over the years, the vision never left. God continued reminding her that one day there would be a school dedicated to worship and that Worship Through Pain would become a book. Shirley admits she continued delaying the assignment, feeling unqualified and unsure of where to begin.
Everything changed in 2021. After breaking her left foot, she once again felt the prompting to write. Shortly afterward, she suffered an even more serious injury—breaking and dislocating her right ankle, leaving her unable to walk and confined to a wheelchair. During that season, she felt God telling her, "Now I have your attention. Write the book."
With no more excuses, Shirley committed to the assignment and completed the manuscript in just 30 days.
In December 2022, Worship Through Pain was officially released.
What Shirley originally believed would only be a book soon expanded into something greater. She began teaching the material as a class, and after holding three successful course batches, the vision continued to grow. What started as a course eventually became the Worship Through Pain Academy, officially launching on June 26, 2026, providing ongoing teaching, mentoring, and discipleship for those seeking deeper healing and worship.
Legacy
As a kingdom woman, Apostle Davis is passionate about building up the Body of Christ in countless needy communities and has been equipped to answer the clarion call among the nations. People from all walks of life are drawn to her because of her gift to inspire and uplift the downtrodden. Her mother-like spirit draws others toward surrendering their lives to the Lord Jesus Christ, and others are finding their way to ultimate healing and healthy living through her life.
Apostle Shirley’s perpetual message is that God, our Heavenly Father, wants to have a relationship with mankind, and that victorious living can be found by accepting His Son, Jesus Christ — the only Provision for this chaotic world. She boldly declares that every person can live harmoniously and experience the fullness of God's promises. As a purveyor of truth, she captures a great vision for the future and endeavors to share that reality with all she encounters.
